19 Million Package Holidays Sold In 2007
Friday, 18 April 2008
19 million package holidays were taken by British tourists in 2007, a rise of approximately half a percent from the year before, according to a report from the Office of National Statistics (ONS).
The figures also reveal that total trips abroad from UK residents, including package holiday, non-package holidays visits to friends and family and business travel reached 71.6 million with 2% year on year growth during the 12 months ending February 2008.
Despite the relatively small increase in the number of package holidays taken, it is the spending growth that has increased more significantly. UK tourist spending increased by 6% to £36.8bn in 2007 compared to the year before.
