Aer Lingus Offer New Routes From Gatwick

cheap flightsIrish flag carrier Aer Lingus is to commence six new routes from London Gatwick this year, operating flights to Bucharest, Eindhoven, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Warsaw and Vilnius.

Aer Lingus will resume flights to Dublin, Faro, Knock, Malaga, Munich, Vienna and Zurich, taking its weekly number of round trips to 118. Flights to Vilnius, the 2009 European Capital of Culture on September 10th. All other routes will start on October 25th.

Aer Lingus has also said that it is to cut long-haul seat capacity by 25%. A statement said that "Long-haul average fares fell by 19% in the first quarter of 2009 reflecting weak economic conditions and consumer confidence on both sides of the Atlantic."

Early termination of leased Airbus A330 aircraft will enable the airline to carry out the long-haul cuts.
