Bmibaby, the British low cost airline has announced a 40% increase in capacity at East Midlands Airport, thanks to three new aircraft and eight new routes for 2010.
BMI baby has announced additional flights from East Midlands, Manchester and Birmingham airports to popular Mediterranean resorts for its summer programme.
British low cost airline Bmi has been granted approval by the CAA to start competing with British Airways on the popular Heathrow – Kiev route.
Bmibaby has reported that its decision to cut fares by up to 40% to boost pre-Christmas sales has paid dividends after announcing a 50% increase in bookings. The sale applied to all flights booked in the time period from December 9th, to October 2009 and not only boosted sales but apparently caused a flurry of additional visitors to the site with a 150% increase.
Lufthansa To Take Control Of BMI - Wed. 29 Oct. 2008
British low cost airline BMI is being taken over by the Lufthansa. The German flag carrier had already been in control of 30% of BMI, but this latest deal means another 50% previously chairman Sir Michael Bishop, gives Lufthansa an 80% majority. The remaining 20%is owned by Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), who have recently confirmed their preference to sell.
Bmi is adding a second daily service to Moscow from London Heathrow. Behind British Airways, Bmi operates the largest number of flights out of Heathrow, and this latest move will extend that offering.
British Airways decision to delay moving it long haul services to Terminal 5 has prompted outrage from BMI chief executive Nigel Turner. BA was initially planning to move its second wave of traffic to T5 on 30th April. However, the chaos which ensued after the terminal opening has prompted the decision to delay until June at least.
Bmi Adds Manchester Routes - Tue. 26 Feb. 2008
Bmibaby has added new routes from Manchester airport to Barcelona, Lisbon and Madrid. Bmibaby flights will operate flights to Madrid four times a week starting from June 16th with seat prices starting from £24.99.
BMI Extends January Seat Sale - Wed. 16 Jan. 2008
BMI Airlines has extended its seat sale up until the 22nd January 2008 to include both domestic and international flights, as well as include its new Tel Aviv route to be unveiled in March.
Bmibaby have released initial details of their summer 2008 schedule by announcing two new routes to Poland. Starting from £249 one way, Gdansk and Warsaw will be available from Cardiff and East Midlands
