Bruges Is Top Performer In First Quarter

bruges city breaksIn the 1st quarter of 2009, Paris was the number one city break destination in terms of bookings.

directline-citybreaks report that Paris was the highest performing product over the 3 month period, followed by Prague, Bruges, Barcelona, Rome, VeniceAmsterdam, Brussels, Dublin and Krakow.

From the top ten performing products, Bruges has been the biggest gainer with a year on year increase of 62%. directline-citybreaks put this down to a vastly improved product range over the last 12 months, giving customers a greater selection of affordable options.

Matthew Flint, Sales Director, directline-citybreaks said:  “We have far more availability in the budget range of accommodation with a wider variety of 3 star hotels along with the introduction of some more properties aimed at the luxury end of the market – all of which are available to book both online and in our call centre.”

For Bruges, the UK is the most important market regarding overnight stays (31%), whilst figures from the Bruges tourism office show an increase of almost 6% last year.
