UK visits to Barcelona declined in 2008 as approximately 100,000 fewer trips were made year on year. City breaks in Barcelona have constantly featured among the top city breaks destinations in Europe, whilst its superb setting south of the Costa Brava make it a popular holiday destination also.
A two-year tourism deal has been agreed between the cities of New York London. It is hoped that the arrangement will provide a much needed boost to both cities, which are traditionally popular in the city breaks market across both sides of the Atlantic. The deal was unveiled by New York mayor Michael Bloomberg and London mayor Boris Johnson.
Inghams, best known for its ski, mountain and lakes holidays, has cancelled its summer city breaks programme. Lack of demand has forced Inghams hand in making the move and the company has confirmed that bookings will no longer be taken. All existing bookings will be honoured however.
Euro Disney, the parent company of Disneyland Resort Paris, has announced net profits of €1.7 million for the year ending September 30th, compared to € 41.6 million losses for the same period last year.

New York City breaks are attracting record numbers of tourists, allowing the city to re-access its tourism targets over the next few years. UK visitors to New York in 2007 are expected to be announced at 1.2 million, representing a 7% rise in numbers from 2006.
In an effort to save time and money, more and more British tourists are favouring city breaks and short breaks instead of a fortnights summer holiday according to a survey from Holiday Inn. The hotel chain polled 5000 British people on their 2008 holiday plans and found that around half of those will definitely not be taking a two-week summer holiday this year.
Dublin has launched a three plan to increase regional tourism, which details the target of increasing visitors from abroad by one million per year.
Inghams has taken steps to re-brand its Eurobreak programme and renamed it as Inghams Short Breaks. Inghams Short Breaks features city breaks in 43 cities, spanning 30 different countries and with over 273 hotels.
