EasyJet Abandons Plans For Weddings In The Sky
Monday, 01 June 2009
EasyJet’s plans to conduct weddings at 30,000 ft received a blow today as the local council refused to grant permission.
Last month easyJet applied to Luton Borough Council, the body responsible for registration in the area where easyJet are based. However that application has been denied on the basis that it goes against the law. The Low cost carrier requested authorisation to allow easyJet pilots officiate wedding ceremonies in the sky.
A disappointed Andrew McConnell, communications manager at easyJet said: “It would appear that faceless bureaucrats in windowless offices have scuppered the dreams of many who wished to get married in the air”.
