easyjet flightsEasyJet has started to allow passengers with hold baggage to check in online. Previously, the service was available to those with hand baggage only; however the service is now being rolled out to all passengers. The low cost airline hopes that the improved service will ensure passengers have a “faster, less stressful airport experience”.

Anyone taking an easyJet flight can now check in via easyJet.com and then take their luggage to the bag drop point at the airport, along with their online boarding card. However, easyJet will continue to offer standard check-in desks at airports.

Online check-in with easyJet is also free of charge with all passengers, unlike cheap flights rival Ryanair, who currently charge £5 for the same service.

EasyJet's Chief Commercial Officer, Dana Dunne, said: "When you add the new bag drop facility to our existing 60-day advance on-line check-in capability, it makes for a great product advantage.

"Most customers with hold bags can now pre-print their boarding passes for both outward and return journeys before leaving home - and get through the airport quicker too.”

The low cost airline has also unveiled new proposals for an industry-wide carbon standard which will reduce emissions by 40% and ensure that every new aircraft should meet the proposed standards by 2015. Furthermore, easyJet is suggesting that any airline not meeting the criteria by 2024 should not be permitted to fly.
