Eurostar Services Back On Track After Fire
Following the September fire in the channel tunnel, Eurostar has announced that services are beginning to get back to business-as-usual, after the commencement of automatic checking.
Eurostar are currently operating 16 trains per day to Paris, 9 per day to Brussels and one daily service to Disneyland Resort Paris. Although the incident affected the immediate timetables, Eurostar has still been operating at high levels of punctuality, with 93% of trains arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled time.
Eurostar have warned however that they are experiencing some issues during peak times, and in particular, on Friday evenings when only 3 services are operating to Paris instead of the timetabled 5. However, there is more availability in midweek.
Eurostar also confirm that the re-accommodation process for all bookings made before 1 October has experienced difficulties, but is now complete up to the end of November. Despite the recent announcement from Eurotunnel that they intend to reopen the damaged tunnel by mid February, Eurostar do not currently have a date set for when they can reinstate full operations. Any further information will be given as and when the details are announced.
