Rivals Thomas Cook were found to be the most expensive place to change money and £14.31 more expensive than First Choice, with consumers paying £274.73 for $500, even though Thomas Cook offers commission-free currency.
Which? Editor, Martyn Hocking, said: "We often spend ages finding a great value holiday, but then forget about getting the best deal when it comes to our spending money.

The reports were based on currency exchange services found on the high street. Other notable companies reviewed included Marks & Spencer (2nd), charging £260.69, HSBC, charging £261.10 and the Post Office, charging £265.59 for the same amount.
