Fuel Supplements Suspended By Major Cruise Lines
Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that it is suspending fuel supplements with immediate effect for all cruises departing in 2009. The cruise line also said that all 2009 bookings within the final payment period will be refunded in the form of on-board credit.
Norwegian Cruise Line executive vice president Andy Stuart said: "Global fuel prices have dropped to a level where we can now suspend the fuel supplement, making an NCL Freestyle Cruising vacation an even greater value”.
Norwegian Cruise Line is to monitor fuel prices to assess whether a fuel supplement reinstatement is required in the future.
This follows yesterday news that the Carnival Corporation is suspending fuel supplements six of its North American brands including Carnival Cruises, Costa Cruises, Cunard Line, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises and The Yachts of Seabourn. Similarly, Carnival also announced that refunds will be made for all bookings within the final payment period for departures after December 17, 2008.
