Inghams has taken steps to re-brand its Eurobreak programme and renamed it as Inghams Short Breaks. Inghams Short Breaks features city breaks in 43 cities, spanning 30 different countries and with over 273 hotels.
Inghams Senior product manager Neil Kewley was optimistic about the short breaks market for 2008: “As we move into winter, demand is significantly up for summer 2008. In terms of duration, the average stay by a Eurobreak client is 3½ days, with destinations such as Prague, Rome, Marrakech and Istanbul raising the average duration, while ‘3 nights for 2’ offers encourage visitors to spend longer in short-haul cities.”
Inghams have confirmed that the most popular destinations served by Eurobreak in 2007 were: Paris, Barcelona, Prague, Rome, Venice, Vienna, Krakow, Berlin, Salzburg and Florence. Despite fears from Inghams that high interest rates and a less disposable income in 2008 would cause the short breaks market to suffer, there have been positives to encourage the UK based company including signs of a revival for Amsterdam, resulting in a number of new hotels to satisfy demand and a boost for Paris with the introduction of self catering luxury apartments by the Eiffel Tower.
Inghams Short Breaks will also unveil a new 116-page brochure introducing long haul destinations such as Hong Kong, Toronto, Vancouver, Low Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Boston, Cairo, Cape Town, Dubai and Moscow. Since founding in 1934, Inghams Travel has grown into one of the UK’s leading specialist tour operators, and is also part of one of the premier travel groups in Europe under their Swiss parent company, Hotelplan.
