spain holidaysA tourism boost is planned for Malaga and its surrounding areas with an investment worth billions of pounds.

Malaga is already a popular holiday and city break destination for British tourists, and the addition of another 2,000 hotel beds over the next couple of years will help to increase its popularity. Pablo Picasso airport will get a new terminal next year and a new runway in 2010, which will allow is capacity to be extended to 20 million passengers, increasing the accessibility of Malaga as a cheap flights destination.

A number of new businesses will open on the waterfront area, as well as a new harbour for cruise lines to use, with Royal Caribbean already considering Malaga cruises as an option. The Waterfront will also be the location for the new opera house which is due to open in 2011.

Further investment is to be ploughed into eight new museums, as well as considerable investment in existing ones including the Pablo Picasso museum.
