Ryanair offers free ski carriage on selected flights

Wednesday, 30 September 2009

ski holidaysFor the next three days, Ryanair is offering free carriage of skis and snowboards to passengers flying to the alps. The offer applies to the first 10,000 passengers to book seats on a selection of cheap flights to typical ski holiday destinations such as Grenoble, Turin and Salzburg.

The promotion, which is set to save travellers up to £80, comes just after British Airways had changed its own policy. A change to BA’s baggage policy for flights departing after 7th October 2009, will no longer allow passengers to take either a pair of skis or a snowboard in addition to their luggage allowance for free. Passengers in economy class will only be allowed to take a single bag weighing up to 23kg.

Ryanair's normal charge for carriage of skis is £30 per flight when booked in advance or £40 if paid at the airport.
