Zoom Airlines In Administration
Zoom Airlines, the low cost carrier, has announced that it is to go into administration. The airline, which operates services between the UK and the United States and Canada, has blamed rising fuel costs for the decision. Zoom will continue to operate flights but delays and cancellations have been reported and can be expected.
This morning, a Zoom flight was grounded in Glasgow for failing to pay air traffic control fees, whilst another plane in Calgary was left stranded after the aircraft owners terminated its lease with Zoom, leaving passengers abandoned.
Rising fuel costs have seen more than 20 airlines go bust this year alone, with the more notable victims being Silverjet, Eos, Maxjet and ATA. Even the big names of EasyJet, Ryanair, British Airways and XL Airways have been forced to cut back as falling profits take their toll.
