Zoom Airlines In Administration - Fri. 29 Aug. 2008
Zoom Airlines, the low cost carrier, has announced that it is to go into administration. The airline, which operates services between the UK and the United States and Canada, has blamed rising fuel costs for the decision. Zoom will continue to operate flights but delays and cancellations have been reported and can be expected.
Zoom Airlines has unveiled its summer 2008 flight programme and is planning to make flights from Gatwick and Glasgow available to reserve from 31st October 2007. The flight schedules from both Gatwick and Glasgow will include more non-stop flights and 40% more seats than the previous summer 2007 programme.
Zoom airlines has commenced low-cost flights from Gatwick to New York JFK with nearly 10,000 advanced bookings. The airline claims to be offering savings of between 42% and 71% on fares that are already offered by competitors. Flights are being marketed as an ‘affordable alternative’ to established airlines such as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Delta, with prices starting at £129 for a one way flight, including taxes.
